- Openings to 8 000mm wide
- 0.8mm–1.2mm galvanised slat
- Chain hoist or motorised
Industrial doors around Bronkhorstspruit fall into three groups, and they behave very differently. Ekandustria carries manufacturing and processing in purpose-built buildings. The N4 corridor carries transport depots and truck workshops. And the farms carry implement sheds, grain stores and workshops with the widest openings of the three. On all of them the door is working equipment, not a fitting.
How we build industrial roller shutter doors
- Heavy-gauge curtains chosen for the span, the exposure and the cycle count.
- Deep guides so a knocked curtain stays in its channel instead of coming out of the building.
- Barrels sized on deflection across the real span, which is what stops a wide door bowing.
- Drives matched to the duty and to the electrical supply that actually exists at the opening.
Agricultural and implement shed doors
These are the widest openings we build for, and they are specified against machinery rather than vehicles. A combine, a high-clearance sprayer or a loaded trailer needs height and width that no van does, and the clearance has to be there with the machine at working height. We measure the machines. We also set the box and barrel clear of the swept path, because a curtain caught by a header is a curtain replaced.
Grain stores and dust risk
Grain dust in suspension is a genuine explosion hazard, and a motor, switch or panel inside the dusty zone is an ignition source. On grain handling and storage buildings we specify sealed drives, correct enclosures and switching positioned outside the zone, and we will refuse a mounting position that is wrong rather than fit it because it is convenient.
Doors for the N4 transport corridor
Truck workshops and depots need openings tall enough for a loaded vehicle and drives rated for constant cycling. Those get industrial side motors, heavy bearings and a curtain edge specified for the wear.
Doors at Ekandustria
The industrial stock there is purpose-built and now decades old, and the steel around the openings has taken a long working life. We assess what the guides will bolt to and quote the steel repair separately rather than hanging a heavy new door on something that is going.
Wide-span and high openings
Openings above about five metres need the barrel, the shaft and the fixing steel calculated rather than assumed, and agricultural buildings frequently run well beyond that. Where a shed is framed in purlins that were never meant to carry a door, we quote the bracing as its own line.
Dust, birds and rodents
The three things that stop farm doors and almost never stop city ones. We specify sealed bearings and protected switching, close off the barrel housing where birds can nest, and route cabling where rodents cannot reach it. Small details, and they are most of the difference in service life out here.
What an industrial roller shutter door costs in Bronkhorstspruit
The price follows the span, the gauge, the drive, the electrical supply and any structural work, quoted as separate lines with travel shown honestly. Survey and quote are free.
